HEADSTONE & MEMORIAL ENGRAVING

Unmatched Precision

The Monument Guy offers on-site stone engraving services throughout Missouri & Kansas. We work with granite, marble, and (less frequently) limestone and sandstone. Most frequently, we do inscriptions and engravings on headstones, mausoleums, veteran grave markers, and other memorials that have already been set in their permanent locations. Because Monument Guy specializes in adding text to monuments designed by other artisans, we are experts at matching engraving style, font, and letter sizes.

Reasons Families Add Lettering to Headstone or Memorials!

Adding Death Dates

Some people pre-plan for their own end-of-life services. During the planning process, they may purchase a cemetery plot and headstone and have the monument set in place. Then, when they pass, the survivors only have to arrange to have the death date engraved on the face of the headstone.

Adding an Epitaph

Unfortunately, families are forced to make funeral decisions during one of the most difficult times of their lives. They may later think of the perfect epitaph for their loved one’s headstone and want to add it months or years later. The Monument Guy can complete this process for your family.

Adding Spouse’s Death Date

Some families purchase a headstone when the first person in a couple passes. The monument marks the grave of the first person who passed and where the spouse will eventually be buried. When the spouse dies, the death date is added to the double headstone.

Adding a New Symbol

Someone may say, “I wish we would have placed a cross on mom’s headstone.” Or “Dad would have liked to have had the Navy insignia on his grave.” Adding a new symbol is possible–contact us to learn more.

Adding Children’s Names

Have you always regretted not adding your children’s names to your already set headstone? Our cemetery lettering service can add names to an already set monument. Adding the list of children will help distinguish families with common names. Contact the Monument Guy for more information on adding a list of names to a monument.

Stone Cleaning Services

Over time, headstones and other monuments are affected by dirt, environmental pollution, tree sap, and plant growth. Unfortunately, sometimes well-minded individuals, in an effort to clean their loved one’s headstone or a monument, end up using methods that cause irreparable damage to the stone.

We understand how best to clean each type of stone, which is why we proudly offer stone cleaning services. We will remove overgrowth, debris, and dead plant matter using the safest methods possible. Then we will carefully hand wash the stone to remove algae, moss, and stuck-on dirt.

Restoring Old Lettering

Stones sitting out in harsh Midwestern weather conditions age over time. Sometimes the letters may fade, making the words hard to read.

Using the safest methods possible, the Monument Guy can restore the text on a stone by darkening old lettering to make the words stand out again.
